We are delighted to announce that we will be welcoming Dr. John Troyer to Captivating Criminality 3, as a keynote speaker. An RCUK Research Fellow, Dr. Troyer is Director of the Centre for Death and Society at the University of Bath. He is also the son of a funeral director and nephew of a medical examiner, which no doubt makes family gatherings somewhat…unique!
John’s research interests include the cultural manifestations and interpretations of the dead body, and the aesthetics of death. He has published on a range of topics within death studies, and his latest publication, Technologies of the Human Corpse, is forthcoming with University of North Carolina Press’s ‘Social Medicine’ series. He will be talking to us about ‘seeing’ the dead body in everyday life. We look forward to welcoming Dr. Troyer to Captivating Criminality 3, for what we are certain will be a uniquely fascinating talk.
Dr. Fiona Peters is Reader in Crime Fiction at Bath Spa University in the UK. She is a Patricia Highsmith scholar and is director of the Captivating Criminality project.
