The ICFA are delighted to launch a new wing of the Association dedicated to fostering collaboration and community between postgraduate and early career researchers of crime fiction. Postgraduate participation is always strong at the Captivating Criminality conferences, and we are keen to build on this by establishing a permanent network for PGRs and ECRs within the Association.
The PGR/ECR Officer for the ICFA is Ciara Gorman, who recently submitted her doctoral thesis on female criminality in twenty-first-century French crime fiction to Queen's University Belfast. Taking inspiration from the always-popular PGR workshop with Professor Mary Evans, which has long been a mainstay at Captivating Criminality, Ciara will host regular themed seminars for PGRs and ECRs throughout the academic year. There will be one series per semester, and two seminars per series. Suggestions for future themes are very welcome!
If you are a current or prospective PGR/ECR member of the Association and would like to join the mailing list for the PGR/ECR Network, you can sign up here. We look forward to welcoming you!

PGR/ECR Network Inaugural Meeting
We are delighted to announce that the inaugural meeting of the PGR/ECR Network will take place online on Thursday 5th October 2023, at the proposed time of 2pm UK time / 3pm CEST. We tried to choose a time that would work for the majority of our members for this first meeting, and we will discuss as a group the best time for these meetings to be held going forward. Further information, including joining links, will be made available to our members via the Network's mailing list, so please ensure that you have signed up using the form above. We encourage all our PGR/ECR members to come along to this meeting, to catch up after CC10 or to introduce yourself for the first time. We also warmly welcome suggestions from our members for topics or events they may wish to see run by the Network. For more information, or to suggest a topic outside of the meeting, please write to [email protected] and mark your email for the attention of Ciara Gorman.
